The first thing you need to know is that the stock OS for the Nook Color is Android 2.1. Currently, you can stick with a rooted version of the stock OS, or you can upgrade to one of three other Android versions.
The Nook Color (nc) is currently capable of running four distinct versions of the Android OS:
